Streetcar mom gets a prize
One of the central figures in the Lake Oswego "urban renewal" battles was feted recently by the folks whose interests she championed:
LAKE OSWEGO – On May 11, Councilor Sally Moncrieff received the award for Distinguished Leadership by an Elected Official from the Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association.
Quickly on the heels of the defeat of the Homer Williams streetcar proposal, of which she was an enthusiastic promoter, Moncrieff announced that her first term on the City Council would also be her last. Her tenure coincided with one of the most contentious periods in the suburban town's history.

Planners...pfffft. Any planner should have licensing requirements that include being over the age of 45 and having at least 15 years of employment in the private sector before being able to become one. Instead we get 26 year-olds using their "book smarts" to figure out how to make (insert city or town name here) look more like Copenhagen and giving out awards to bobble-heads like Moncrieff.

Just goes to show the best jokes are based in reality. I'm surprised Hoffman didn't get that award as Moncrieff was only his mouth piece on Council chirping what he didn't want to go on record as saying. She, a leader? What a joke!

Anti-Luke is right on- Sally Moncrieff has been referred to as "Jack's Sock Puppet"
What was the Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association thinking?
Oh right- they were justifying their behaviors and existence.
