Portland food slop stink coming to Wanker's Corner

Some of the folks down that way aren't too pleased. Can't say we blame them, given what's happened in North Plains. What awful things are being done to the Portland area's livability in the vague name of "green."

Wanker's Corner? The mayor's home address?

You mean, that land north of I-205, east of Tualatin, west of West Linn, south of Lake Oswego, that local governments do NOT want within the urban growth boundary because they are unable to provide services, but the all knowing Metro (City of Portland) wants to force into the UGB?

Now we know why...so that the City of Portland can industrialize it, run the housing values down for those homes in East Tualatin/south Lake Oswego, and ruin that land forever.

I know of a great composting place. There's a LOT of unused land near the Airport, on Hayden Island, on Government Island, out in Rivergate, around the Rose Quarter; some undeveloped lots near the MAX line (especially near the Convention Center and the 7th Avenue stations), the vacant land underneath the Marquam Bridge south of the substation...South Waterfront...

You have a good point there Erik H.
What was the UGB really about behind the closed doors?
Hasn't it all been about the land and money to be made by some
and not at all about human value and livability.
This has all been sold on the idea of "can't have sprawl" and "save farmland" etc.

I began neutral about UGB but after what I have observed, no more.

Once Portland sold Johnswood Park in St. Johns for a housing development, by Charlie Hales, Parks Commissioner, and the rezoning/infill taking place in Portland, under Katz/Hales, I could not support their plans.
They also had to redo about 400 pages of Portland's Title 34, Land Division Code.
In my opinion a very unfortunate maneuver in order to facilitate more development,
that code had existed to protect our livability, to prevent overcrowding of the land, etc. and many of us protested that change. Hales was quite the change agent, storming through our code as Planning Commissioner, Code Language Improvement Documents, etc. He doesn't deserve to ever enter those public chambers again after what he did.

Unfortunately, too many devotees of the UGB and in my opinion refuse to see the negative end results of it.
Why has the conversation been between two negatives - Extreme sprawl a horizontal negative, and extreme density, a vertical negative?

The plans have gone too far when they get the stench right into people's noses. It is time for people to wake up in order to continue smelling the roses.

I still think CoP and Metro have declared war on the suburbs and have begun operations. There are many tools/weapons at their disposal and people out there who value what they have better sit up and take notice.

1221 SW 4th Avenue
The stench started there and should end there!

Brown is the new Green.
