Trouble on the other "green" giveaway front, too

On top of today's bad news about Vestas comes this depressing forecast for Portland's other "green economy" pipedream, SoloPower. The city's economic development record slides deeper into the laughable zone. Go by streetcar!

Idiot pols always going for the homerun. Didn't Pete Rose have a Hall of Fame career hitting singles and doubles.

Of course, singles and doubles don't make for great media photo ops.

Gee too bad those hicks in Wilsonville didn't get the chance to throw a bunch of tax money at SoloPower.

Sam looks like a real genius again.

How has United Streetcar been doing? I've yet to hear of them actually DELIVERING a product to a customer. I think Boeing went from drawing board to finished 787 (a totally brand new aircraft) in less time than United Streetcar had COPYING an existing design from another company.

Economic Development in Oregon. In the early to mid 90's we kicked our forest products industry to the curb in favor of high tech. The wave of semiconductor firms from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan would provide all the jobs we needed. They of course left within a few years, some without ever starting up production. Now our state government has hitched its wagon to an even dimmer star "Green Jobs". Now of course we can't even restart all those sawmills, because they have been turned into brownfield liabilities. This is a good example of our inabillity to see what our resources really are. No amount of creative web based coffee swilling is going to make up for this blunder...
