From Salem, the sound of crickets
Come next year, Oregon is going to have a new state attorney general, and two new justices on the state Supreme Court. These are both really important positions. Why is there so little buzz about them?
Rumor has it that one of the court spots is already "spoken for," but by whom? Denizens of the courthouses, do tell.

Puh-leeze, they are all spoken for. Two months before they are due, Kitz works out a deal and the person retires. Kitz puts their selection in the seat and he has the legitimacy of an incumbent.
This is how we build regimes.

Both of the retiring justices said they weren't going to do that.

Mult Co's Judge Baldwin is running for one of the Supreme Court spots, but I wouldn't call him a shoe-in.

The other Supreme Court seat is being sought by Judge David Brewer, currently Chief Judge on the Court of Appeals. I suspect that is the spot that people believe is "spoken for".

Baldwin and Brewer would be fine.
