Where is the mute button?

We are lunching at Burgerville today, the one at SE 122nd and Stark. The burger's fine, but the sounds coming out of the loudspeakers are curious. We've already had two rounds of "Happy Birthday to You" -- two-minute-long versions of that one -- and one of "Hail, Hail, the Gang's All Here" (with which the elderly gal in the next booth was actually singing along). Now it's "God Bless America." It's affecting our digestion.

UPDATE, 12:11 p.m.: With "Roll Out the Barrel," we're out of here. This is why they invented drive-through windows.

My lord, once a coastie always a coastie. Nothing but a little Wisconsin fun...

gotta love the free jukebox at BV. If you see my kids at BV, run for the hills, it's going to get funky soon.

pretty darn good fast food in those Burgerville places however...sorry about the funky if not annoying tunes, Jack

I should have seen if I could get the jukebox going. That usually pre-empts the Muzak. But usually the Muzak at Burgerville is decent. This stuff today must have something to do with the company's 50th anniversary. But it was just plain awful.

Had a Sonic burger yesterday for the first time. Every bit as good as Burgerville.

I think you should put "Roll Out The Barrel" up for your "have a great weekend" post. I already can't get it out of my head.

I dream of In and Out Burgers...and the fries and shakes.

This article is currently on the OregonLive website and says, "You won't want to make a decision on an empty stomach, so maybe you start at Burgerville, because they play pretty good music."

Their Tillamook Pepper Bacon Cheesburgers are addictive. My old office was 5 blocks east of that location, and fortunately I moved to a location where I can still get them but it's a lot more work.

In and Out is just as good, lots less money and faster as well. And all the employees speak english!
We were at a Burgerville out in Vancouver on Highway 99 a couple weeks ago, and the meal cost almost double what it costs at In and Out.

Burgerville is expensive, but I like knowing they started just down the street from my house.

All ages appeal! Won't be long before you you're doing the same. Getting older ain't for the lame. Enjoy what you've got before there's a change in the game.

Well, I hadn't been to Burgerville in ages; but last Wednesday (on the way to a Medicare seminar) the better half says "let's stop for one of their famous berry shakes". We do and the prices are pretty darned good; two shakes, medium, under eight bucks.

Then I looked at the receipt. One Strawberry shake, 800 calories; one black cherry something or another, 1,100 calories!! My Lord, half my daily intake and nary a french fry in sight.

When I asked if I could find out the calories before I ordered, the answer was "not too likely".

Darn, it was good but it will be a long time before I imbibe 1/2 a day's caloric intake in a single cup again.

Then I looked over my shoulder at the folk with the same size shake, plus a burger and fries. All on the way to discovering why my medicare supplemental coverage is going up, up, ......

OMG,it wasn't Kate Smith doing GBA, was it? I can understand queasy if it was...

If Super Size Me would have focused on Burgerville it would have been a joyous documentary instead of an alarming bummer.
