I checked the 2007 economic census. There was one eating & drinking place (restaurant, bar, cafeteria) for every 127 households living in Multnomah County. Tough market, saturated.
Try Taqueria Siete Estrellas in Tigard (behind the Beauty School and next door to a Tatoo Parlor). Lousy service, slow kitchen, weird menu: best Mexican Food I've found in Oregon in two decades.

I also saw today that Friendly's went bankrupt. If you can't sell ice cream and burgers in America, we really are in trouble.
Incidentally, my dad told me years ago that he wanted to buy stock in Friendly's so he could tell people he had some frozen assets.
Used to be OK in CA...never had the right stuff up here IMO and got worse with time.
Friendlys going broke...well well...
Thanks for the suggestion Mister Tee!
Actually ate at the one up near Vancouver mall last week for a friends birthday. Was surprised at how good it was. The salsa was excellent and the meals were more than decent. Still, that was the first time in several years that I had eaten at a Chevy's. To many good, small independent Mexican places to frequent.
Good riddance. All Chevy's ever did was serve nuevo crapola mexican food (the whole bean variety) at locations where traditional (lard in the beans), down home mexican restaurants could make a killing.
Chevy's has a prime location here in Fresno, yet cannot compete with Sal's or Toledo's who do not have the prime location, yet have the mariachi bands on Sundays serenading families at tables, while the families eat real mexican food.
I am actually quite happy Chevy's is going out of existence. I feel for the workers, but I am quite thrilled their shame of a brand is soon to be nonexistent.

Didn't have a great reputation back East. Baja Fresh was better, and that's not saying a heckuva lot.
Fortunately, DC has a latino population that includes most Central American countries. Julia's Empenadas are the bomb!

Ehh not that great- pretty corporate food, hard to find anything on menu that grabbed my attention. Doesn't come close to Santa Fe or Maya's.

I have a soft spot for Chevys; the Laquedemitasse and I liked to sit and watch the chip-making machine do its thing. The food wasn't bad, either.
