Quotation of the Week
The Randy Leonards of this world think jobs get created by diverting money from water rate payers, downtown sustainable lifestyle livers, and the like to finance Chicago Alderman style patronage spending.
The whole thing is here.

Yeha, I know. I'm gonna miss him - He was one of a kind.

Thank you for the thought-provoking reading material. I especially liked the initial paragraphs, dealing with the birth of our quasi-governmental "clean and safe" paramilitary force. I'll confess to not knowing much of that history, due primarily to not paying much attention to it until recently.

I find it a bit hard to sympathetic to the whiners downtown. They have public transportation and their streets get fixed and cops might respond there. And then there are all those expensive condos that don't pay any property taxes. Cry me a river.

I think that explains the armed street cops I've seen about apparently walking actual sidewalk beats and wearing uniforms and emblems that appeared identical to PPB, but upon closer inspection their emblems did NOT say PPB on them.
Counterfeit cops. I wonder who they answer to.

Take five minutes and you'll find out who the clean and safe guys answer to.
Take five more minutes and you'll see that they're not doing their job.
I drove by a men's western and outdoor store downtown today and the same crew of road warriors (and their dogs) were still camped out in front of one of Portland's older downtown businesses.Look at the bums who infest the Japanese Memorial area of the waterfront park.
Clean and safe is afraid to do its job.
Fricken town is a disgrace. Teenagers with big ideas and other people's money.
