Portland to rip up streetcar tracks permanently!

But don't worry, kids -- it's just the old trolley tracks on Belmont Street. Portland does rip up modern streetcar tracks, but only to relocate them nearby.

Has a historic review been conducted? Those ancient streetcar lines are like gold in historical value - they should not under any circumstances be removed at all.

The City should not only preserve these streetcar tracks, but unearth them, preserve them, and develop a world-class Portland Streetcar and Trolley Museum District that preserves these ancient lines and tells the story to our children so that they may learn the value of this social network.

Agree.
People run to Europe to see treasures and walk on cobblestones, here they tear and rebuild, tear and rebuild.
Just like the transit mall downtown,in the overall picture, that mall was new, may have needed proper maintenance.
I still lament the loss of the Lewis and Clark Exposition when I see those old photos.

But, but.... Portland is building (lotsa reverb here) THE CITY OF TOMORROW!
