Killer cop circus is back in town
An arbitrator is currently conducting hearings into whether a Portland policeman, fired for killing an unarmed man by shooting him in the back, should get his position on the police force back. It's much too important a question to be entrusted to arbitration, but them's the rules. If the past is any indication, the officer in question, who has proven himself to be a bully and a hothead, will get a lot of money, and maybe even get the chance to kill somebody else in the line of duty.

"The arbitration hearing, taking place in an undisclosed location in downtown Portland..."
So who's the arbitrator -- Dick Cheney? With a little leg work the O could find this out. It might also want to look into why and how (and should) a decision whether the public must give back a badge to a hot-headed killer is conducted in secret. Signing a collective bargaining agreement that avoids sunshine laws should be no justification. Attorney General Kroger -- hello?

"Unjustified shootings by our officers won't be tolerated. But remember, police work is very stressful."

Boss Tweed had been reincarnated and is alive and well somewhere in local Politics.

Think of the blue howling if an unarmed cop was shot in the back. Too bad they don't revere the rest of our lives the way the do those in the blue brotherhood.
