More Portland poster children for poverty

Sunday, it was dollar stores -- yesterday, scroll down a bit in this story about food stamps.

As was noted in the article, food stamps prove to be a subsidy for corporations who pay low wages, don't offer full-time hours, and don't offer benefits unless one does work full-time. Walmart has usually been the poster child for keeping employees' hours below the threshold for receiving benefits, but I would guess most retail/fast food/other low paying service jobs work the same way.
