Jail Duck has plenty of cash
Cliff Harris, the U of O student athlete busted for going 118 miles per hour in a rented car -- not rented by him, as he has a suspended driver's license -- has come up with a cool $1,620 to pay the fines for his latest traffic infraction. The fine was paid on his behalf by an unidentified lawyer, who probably doesn't work for free. One wonders what kind of summer job the player is holding down -- maybe cataloging in the library.

The RG reported that the fine was paid by his mom, delivered by the lawyer: http://www.registerguard.com/web/updates/26516939-55/harris-oregon-driving-traffic-fines.html.csp
Also says that the NCAA is investigating Harris' "rental agreement."
I think that makes three concurrent NCAA investigations into UO athletics: men's basketball, recruiting / Lyles, and the "rental."
That's what you call "doing things the right way" - if you want major NCAA sanctions, that is.

And Mom got the cash where?
A point I made to Dave Frohnmayer a long, long, long, time ago, in another context, not long after he became AG and was trying to set up a financial investigations unit.
