State Marine Board chief to Adams: Dream on
Another one of the Portland mayor's priceless ideas -- the one that would give Admiral Randy's naval empire something to do -- is apparently going nowhere fast. The head of the state Marine Board is telling the Samster the same thing the FBI is telling him on the joint terrorism task force: Come off it.

I think Randy got envious when his son graduated form Coast Guard boot camp. Boats are soo coool.
As someone who spent more than a few years on the water as a member of the Coast Guard, neither of the twins has any idea what this is all about.

Do they have any idea what anything is about?

You know, I had a worrisome thought. You know the old trope of how only a pair of dorky glasses kept people from noticing that Clark Kent was really Superman? Well, what if Mayor Creepy's glasses were there to prevent us all from seeing that he's really Hannibal Lector?

At this point, I love seeing Adams or Leonard get foiled in anything. Hee hee.

Sammy comes in Monday mornings about 11:15 peeling his eyeballs back from a bender. Then he gives his 30 member staff a directive to find five good new initiatives he should consider for the week. He ponders, makes a call to Randy Randy to confirm his next strike for taking something over or declaring a new edict. Then they both spin it. Then repeat the next week.
I squirm thinking how the SamRandy Navy takes over the RiverRatPatrol, then makes a lewd arrest at the Sauvie Island Nudist beach for a drunken boat operator. It goes to trial, the defendant attorney asks for dismissal based on the fact that Sauvie Island is outside the city limits, thus no jurisdiction. The judge promptly dismisses. Then Sammy says, "Oh suck, we didn't research that scenario...we need another Navy mayor's office staff member!".

Evergreen.... Coast Guard Boot Camp...
Did you attend the one in Cape May New Jersey?
I live about 5 miles from the base and when I was in my early 20's I did a Charlie Sheen, and Trolled for chicks at the Seaview Tavern, as it was a hang out when the girls were on a 48 hour pass.
Good old times indeed.

What is the status on Council and others being the subject of a felony securities fraud inquiry being conducted by Oregon's Division of finance and Corporate Securities, in connection with the public funding for PGE Park's renovation?
The inquiry centers on ORS 59.135, which makes it a felony to conceal or misrepresent material facts in connection with any project being funded by municipal bonds.

I think the last sentence of the Willamette Week story, in bold print, says it all.
There's nothing broke, so why fix it?
That's Sam Adams' favorite thing to do...break what's already working fine, and ignore what's broken and needs fixed. You know, kind of like our transit system - build the streetcar, and who cares if St. Johns loses bus service out of it. Build bike lanes, but who cares if there are still unpaved streets (and those that are paved often have potholes). Build a new soccer stadium, but we can barely maintain the public-use parks that we have.

The "status" is that Peter Apanel filed a complaint, which will go felony nowhere.

Jeff, yes I was at Cape May many decades ago in the fall and it was cold on that water.
