That's Casals, man! Every cello player defers to Casals.
"Sarabande" from the Cello Suite#1.
Thanks, Jack!

There's a lot to admire — if not necessarily emulate — about old Pablo. He lived to be 97. At 80, he married for the third time — to a student of his who was 20 at the time. At 93, when he was asked why he practiced 3 hours a day, he said, "I think I'm starting to notice some improvement."

Living and doing well into your 80's and beyond is well worth reaching.
Two composers who did stunning works in their 80's were Richard Strauss "Four Last Songs" and Giuseppi Verdi "Four Sacred Pieces"
Interesting that they both wrote "Four last Songs" although the Verdi is composed for large chorus and orchestra, hardly a "song". Both attest to the power of genius when allowed to progress to very late in life,
I can't imagine Mozart at 80, nor Beethoven.
Sigh!
