The Trib's David Wu headlines of the last couple of days require no comeback to be funny:
"Wu dedicated to keeping his job in Congress"
"Wu tells forum: 'I want to turn this story around'"
No kidding.

Wu showed courage and independence in voting against the war in Iraq. People who can't be intimidated into "running with the pack" often are attacked, sometimes through staff or employers who were either made offers they couldn't refuse or were threatened with loss.
Some at the O have recognized that dressing in a costume and borrowing a prescription pain pill aren't actually unusual behaviors. Wu is human, but not mainstream. Anyone can think about the worst days of their lives and what a nightmare it would be to have your public persona defined by only those.

Wu has always had personal issues. He is no less fit to serve now than he was, say, four years ago, but that's not saying much. The media decided to blow the whistle after half his staff walked out. And it wasn't just the O.

Hey, Washington County keeps electing this guy, so they deserve this human comic strip.
Believe me, this is no endorsement of his Republican competition.

Washington County voters continue to elect him, apparently they want him. Wu's declaration that he wants to keep his job and turn the story around don't seem to comic to me. What would you do?
