Had some younger co-workers take me to Voodoo donuts once. They were pretty tickeled.
I thought is was dirty, sloppy, and a failure of imagination. Putting Trix cereal on a cake donut?
Go to Tulips Bakery in St Johns or that one in downtown Oregon City. Those are excellent local bakers.

"Failure of imagination"
The stacks of cash they bring in are quite real. The original location on SW 3rd often has a line of 40+ people waiting to get a doughnut.

We had a very dear friend, recently departed, who was married there on Halloween a few years back ... It was a hoot. It's not my cup of tea at all, but it's one of the few things around pdx that hasn't been extensively market tested to remove any trace of originality.

As far as quality of the baked goods, VooDoo isn't all that great. But it's an "experience" and we take our out-of-town relatives so they can have something to talk about when they go back home.
