Roy G. Biv and his brother

A gorgeous double rainbow has appeared over the south side of Portland. Looks and feels like April out there today.

Hi Jack:
My "bird feeder" had five squirrels, two blue jays and an assortment of small "tweety" birds sorting out peanuts, potato chips, christmas cookies and bird seed.
So...., "Spring" is just around the corner for us. At least we don't have to shovel out 2.5feet of Chicago snow!
My oldest son son lives there with his family and thinks it's fun?
I'm not so sure?
VTY,

Nothing like the light spectrum on a beautiful spring -like day. Takes me back to Physics 101.

A couple of years back, I was driving east on 26 out of Hillsboro when this double rainbow appeared. (Over the West Hills, of course!). The stunning thing about it is the base of the rainbow traveled with the car's motion which is the expected behavior, but rather unexpected while driving at 60mph. The details of the background changed while the rainbow grew, then diminished in intensity. It was one of those moments best savored by pulling over, which would have negated the experience of the traveling rainbow!

All this while having to negotiate traffic and being on high alert for other drivers perhaps mesmerized by this phenomenon.
