I once sent the Bank of America a QWR about my mortgage with them. They didn't acknowledge it, and after 20 days, I noted that fact to them. To my surprise, they quickly conceded the amount contested, not even waiting out the 40 additional days they were entitled to for their response.
Banks apparently have some fear of this process and the notieriety it can cause them. And yes, it's very satisfying to win.
