Two days in jail and anger management for raging cyclist

The lawyer for the "34-year-old food cart employee" said, "There's a lot of animosity actually I think in Portland between bicyclists and motorists." Nawwww -- d'ya think?

I was looking at the perp's surname. I think that's your problem right there.

Agreed, Allan. Should we be glad his parents didn't believe in truth in advertising and name him "Dick"?

Walking around downtown and NW Portland, I've been nearly run down and sworn at by cyclists. All but a couple of those offenders were package delivery guys. Of course, I've nearly been run down by cars much more often, but the cyclist incidents are memorable because I can see their faces, and hear their voices.

Come on people, it's not fair to pick on the guy for his name.

That aside, it's nice to see some sort of justice being carried out and maybe the guy will learn to control his frustrations better. There's certainly no shortage of frustration going around.

Is this not road rage? Can a cyclist be charged with Road Rage?

Glans has all of the qualifications to be Mayor or Portland City CouncilPerson.

What a putz! And one of the "creative class" that works at a food cart at that!

My thoughts exactly Dave A.
I wonder which food cart...so I will be able to avoid it.

"Glans' prior run-ins with the law include skateboarding in a prohibited area in 1995, rollerblading downtown in 1997 and riding his bike without the proper equipment in 2007."

Good to see Portland's finest have the time to round up this incipient terrorist-type......I feel so safe now.

"Agreed, Allan. Should we be glad his parents didn't believe in truth in advertising and name him "Dick"?"

Why not "Thor"?

"Is this not road rage? Can a cyclist be charged with Road Rage?" Good point, but this would appear to be an epidemic in angry cyclists.

Good luck to the foot cart employee on the anger management classes.

Best wishes,

Ahem. That's "Sandwich Artist" to you....

The conflicts between cyclists and cars is overblown. I commute daily to work via bike, have done so for years. I've found drivers to be more friendly than not, often yielding when they they have right-of-way. Of course, I always ride with helmet, lights, and neon safety vest, and try to respect the flow of traffic. Perhaps there's a connection?
