Perspective

It's time to stop picking on Ron Wyden for a while. The guy's going under the knife Monday for prostate cancer. We wish him a successful surgery and a speedy and full recovery.

It's interesting that this illness was detected in the early stages "through routine screening" -- a practice that is now often described as worthless, if not downright harmful.

To Sen. Wyden:

Although I disagree with you on just about everything, I think we can agree on our hopes for you to make a full and speedy recovery and that we see you on the floor of the United States Senate when Congress reconvenes in January.

Best wishes Senator.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Senator.
And I promise I won't grumble about you for at least 60 days, knowing any criticism would be seen as encouragement for Gordon Smith to beat a hasty retreat from K street....

A brother-in-law sincerely believed that routine screening for prostate cancer was unnecessary.
He would have been 69 today.
