A quickie with Lame Duck Ted

Here's an interesting tidbit on the legal front: The state bar sent a notice to its members yesterday that a Multnomah County circuit court judge, Keith Meisenheimer (right), is retiring at the end of month. Of course, so is Governor Ted Kulonogoski, and one might think that the outgoing guv would leave the appointment of a replacement to his retread successor, John Kitzhaber.

But no:

Anyone interested in filling the position must submit a letter of interest and resume to the Governor’s office by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10. Due to the expedited nature of this process, candidates are not required to submit Interest Forms with their initial application.
Wham bam, thank you, Ma'am. One long-time reader of ours complains:
Hey, look: Eight days' notice of a judicial vacancy and appointment, and the MBA [Multnomah Bar Association] won't get to vet the applicants. Think the fix is in?

The fix is definitely in. Ask the judge who is replacement is going to be. He knows.

But Ted did such a good job of vetting Neil Goldschmidt and Matt Hennessee.

Judge Meisenheimer was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War. Interesting.

Interesting.

How?

Interesting.

How?

Not to you Robert - to normal folks who mightn't have known.

Go back to your ax.

Cheers

I'll put my money on Cory Streisinger, the current director of DCBS and a BFF of Ted. Cory has the skill and intellect to make a fine judge. She has announced that she will step down from DCBS effective December 31.

From Meisneheimer's bio:

then held Young Republican views

It being Multnomah County, the "then held" must be stressed. I was lost and now I'm found.

whats the difference?....they're all democrat.....no big surprise.....Oregone votes for hope and change by voting in the same old crap......
