My dad was a member of AMPAC. Back in the day, they were bitterly opposed to Medicare.
On the other hand... people whose relatively high incomes are derived from professional work are getting squeezed in an economy controlled by financial markets just like everybody else. Plus, most doctors start practice with the equivalent of a mortgage to pay on their student loans.
