Page-turner of the Year
Phil Stanford's new book hits the stands this week, and it's a beauty -- a real-life murder mystery from the Portland of 50 years ago. The guy sure knows how to research and tell a story. Way to go, Phil.

I really liked "Portland Confidential" and - as I understand it - this is from the next decade in a trilogy about the Rose City. Before it's over, these could be the definitive must-read books for anyone who wants to find out what happened here leading up to these times.
You know, Phil's quite a guy. I'd probably say that even before I found out I was in the new book's acknowledgments - but I'm certainly going to say it going forward.
In fact, this is no longer about him or the book. Once again, this is all about me now.

I loved Portland Confidential, and the Tribune is barely worth reading since they dropped Stanford's column. Will another paper step up and give him a column, already?

'the Tribune is barely worth reading since they dropped Stanford's column.'I'd agree with you except I don't think its been worth reading since Dwight Jaynes LEFT.....

I've got about a million reasons to like you, Jack, and your support of Phil Stanford is among them. I have periodically fallen into his orbit over the years and have always considered him an exceptionally hardworking and visionary journalist who is often misunderstood. Thanks for supporting his latest book. Phil's is a local voice that needs to be heard. Like yours.
