Echo in here?

Last Wednesday evening on this blog.

Tonight in the O.

I'm glad they finally got around to covering this. The O is doing some yeoman's work on its current series on unsustainable state employee pay and PERS. Really good stuff. But I've never seen them put in the same amount of effort covering the fiscal ponzi schemes like the FPDR happening under their own noses in their own hometown. I think too many reporters are fearful of losing their City Hall access and sources if they point out that the emperors (and now one empress) have no clothes. Or maybe they're hoping their silence will get them a spot on Sam's staff. Hey, worked for Amy Ruiz.

I guess Maxine will not be welcome at Kiddie Hall from now on.

Of course they've endorsed every politician responsible for it.

Just a reminder folks, be sure to remind Randy he should ask for firetrucks FIRST before FPDR bumps.

Vote NO on the 26-117 and écrasez l'infâme (Crush the infamous thing).

Someone needs to put truth to Randy's lies.

When Randy gives speeches supporting the fire bond, he makes an impassioned plea to not let someone die or be injured because an old fire apparatus breaks down en route to a call. He also cites a case in Seattle where a mom and kids died because an old fire truck's pump broke down and they had to wait for another pumper to get to the scene.

All very well and good, and I agree fire trucks are an essential need for the city to provide one of its essential services. It's too bad he didn't make that case when they were finding money to help Merritt Paulson renovate a stadium, or when the "found" savings in the sewer budget were put towards bike lanes, or when urban-renewal districts are being proposed, or when money is found for innumerable other pet and empire-building projects.

I voted against the measure, and not without some regrets. But in principle, the City Council needs to get its spending priorities straight and invest in its core functions first. I'm sorry the first sacrificial lamb may have to to be fire trucks, but the city's profligacy with the taxpayers money cannot be further encouraged.

I believe this blog has more influence than one might expect. I have talked to people who work in various local government offices and asked if they are aware of Bojack.org. While some (well, one in particular) had negative comments, all were keenly aware of the blog and read it frequently. I suspect that people from the Oregonian also make it one of their stops on the web. I usually wake up to Bob Miller’s show on KPAM radio. Quite often he will make mention of something he has read on this blog.

When the public needs to know, this is the place to go.

Well, wonderful, the Oregonian stealing Jack's headlines. I still get a kick out of those that sometimes post here that the Oregonian is a redneck conservative newspaper.

I just did calculations of their endorsement summary. 75% of their endorsements are for democrat candidates. And almost the same percentage for supporting the same incumbents that brought us the hole we're in, and would continue the downward spiral. Totally a conservative paper.

It's a good sign if the O is following up on stories here. All media need to report these things. People need to know. I do my part by spreading the word on Bojack.

Snards, I also spread the word for this site to people who care about politics and have half a brain.

As for it being here first. The media has gotten incredibly lazy over the last 10 years. They are lap dogs for the most part not reporters.
