And the hits just keep on comin'
Another sales pitch arrived in the mail yesterday from the proposed new taxing district for the Multnomah County library:
The last one was so disingenuous. I wonder if that gal even knew what they were going to use her picture for when they took it.

A quick search on this site for "old woman" gives this photo http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-3671029-happy-senior-lady.php

a friend of mine modeled for one of those stock photo gigs and her face ended up on an abortion provider's website.
I'd rather be the face of election porn

Yes, and she's not even from Oregon but Valhalla, Wisconsin. Just another Measure running on myth.

This post and the one below highlight the problem of government inefficiency. They should have just paid once for the picture of that Tri-Met driver with the E-Reader on his dashboard, and used it for both Measures.

Thanks for pointing out all of the sneaky issues with this measure (especially your previous post). Knowing how disingenuous they are being makes my "no" vote very easy to cast.

Granny knows what you did last summer, in the library.

Government uses your money to shaft you in many ways. Using tax money to pay for lobbyists and marketing campaigns are just two unethical (if not illegal) examples.
If it's illegal, no worries. There are hundreds of lawyers lined up to take tax money to defend the indefensible. Often the objective is not to win but to make the lawyers money and cost the challengers money.
I ran for a seat on the board of a state-sanctioned monopoly Wasco Electric Co-operative. Wasco Electric used ratepayer money to send out a "hit piece" to the voters defaming and impugning me. This despite the fact that I would never win no matter how many votes I received. Details are at: http://www.reformwascoelectric.com
Banana Republic or Constitutional Republic? I think we are more like the former than the latter.
