If the folks on juries cannot contain themselves, announcing verdicts, and opinions on their various electronic devices, then those devices should be confiscated by the court and held till the trial is over and the verdict announced in court.

She deserves her punishment, no doubt. But why was the attorney doing this:

"Defense lawyer Saleema Goodman Sheikh's 17-year-old son, who graduated from high school this year, discovered the Facebook post by Jons as he was researching jurors online for his mother"

Snards, didn't you answer your own question? DEFENSE atty so and so had her son research the jurors to double check whether there was anything hinky and, lo and behold! There was. Seems like Ms. defense attorney was on the ball, unlike the courts who are supposed to provide a disinterested and unbiased jury.
