The other bus project
This group of riders is none too happy with the way Tri-Met is mangling their bus service. They're staging a rally next Wednesday to protest service cuts and fare increases to take effect that day.
My, my -- don't those kids know to go by streetcar?

Bus riders are learning a lot about TriMet. They are even actively commenting, attending TriMet Board meeting, and will be demonstrating against the never-ending TriMet funding of more lightrail, namely Milwaukie Light Rail. They realize there is better service with buses than light rail and trolleys.

But these riders are going to get light rail service to Milwaukie ten years from now. Plus we've got bioswales up the ying-yang.
I don't understand why these things don't mollify them.

I wish them well on the protest. Tri-Met cares more about choo-choos than buses, since trains capture federal pork, enrich connected local land barons, and provide a release for planners' wet dreams of transit-oriented development, while it's mostly the poor, unwashed, voiceless masses that ride the buses.

Lightrail or Bust!
... likely the latter...

The OPAL members who spoke at the last 3 or 4 TriMet Board meetings did an outstanding job.
They all spoke well and had good material for the board to consider.
I was quite impressed.
