Radio Free Metro

Portland's regional government hosts this mildly scary ditty on its website. And there's more where that came from if you scroll down.

I cant believe they seriously think those songs are helping anything. I change the station they come on the radio. And they pay artists to produce the stuff. Cant we at least hope they are local artists?

I wonder how many potholes could be repaired for the cost of each one of those productions? Guess we'll never get to know!

But, Stu, you know that "Cultural Creatives" HATE filling potholes and would much rather be paid to put together def jams like that one.

I don't have near the hatred for Metro that prevails around here but I gotta say, whoever approved that scheme needs to be escorted out the door with his/her stuff in a box, stat. You can't blame the "artists" for taking the rube's money, but the rube needs to be separated from any position of authority within Metro. Seriously -- this is the kind of agency-killing nonsense that has to hit hard, or else you just condemn yourself and destroy the good work done elsewhere.

YIKES...no wonder the government is broke!
I see large, pale, eyed egg headed, aliens marching in lock step...reciting..."reduce, reuse, recycle"...
Wasn't there a little singing ditty about HAZMAT too not long ago?

But...but...it's creating jobs! Think of all the artists, sound engineers, studio owners, etc. that now have jobs!

That song is better (in terms of job creation) than ODOT's current public service announcement playing on K103 regarding bridge work on I-84 at the Sandy River, or any of their other quality programs:

"I cant believe they seriously think those songs are helping anything."

Consider the mountain of reports they produce that never get used for anything at all.

From the PDC to Metro to TriMet and many other bureaucracies and school districts there are stacks upon stacks of color printed special stuff which is never used for anything but justifying those who produced it.
