It's official: Duck poop cleanup contract to run $398K

The much-scaled-down Laurelhurst Park duck pond cleanout -- with the hazardous materials left in place and a convenience dump of the dredgings at the "park site" in Cully -- is about to be awarded to Brant Construction, a Vancouver, Washington outfit. The winning bid was $398,000.

I might have missed something here, but has there been a public process about dumping in our public lands.

Wouldn't want to set a precedent.

These people just don't care.

Saltzman with his "special concern" for the children ought to have stepped in since children will be playing in this park.

I expect better from a Parks Commissioner than Fish.

Concerning the pond cleanup, he a fish out of water.

So with overruns and kickbacks it should be 1.2 million.

Seems to me that to avoid reoccuring costs to maintain this stagnant cesspool. We should just fill it in and be done with it.

The squacks can just take crim-et down seizeure chavez blvd. To Chrystal meth springs and flap around there. Firwood lake should be filled in.

The cost to fill it in would be far less. But it makes to much sense it will never happen. We would have a more sustainable park to use, more picnic area, more area to sell drugs, etc.
