Your new competitor: City Hall

Local government has gotten way out of control in Portland -- mission creep in the water and sewer bureaus, especially -- but it may be outdone in Seattle. Up there, the city is talking about going into the second-hand store business. A little scary down here in our neck of the woods, where our city and county fathers are so heavily into the whole "ReUse" thing themselves.

I thought PDX was in the condo building biz! The slump in the market would then explain the raid on utility bills and the always amazing city revenue shell game. It's needed to shore up the biz and keep new and shiny sales brochures hot off the presses! Why, if I lay my head on the train tracks, I can hear the rumble of hundreds of thousands no, the millions of new Portlanders arriving any day now!

On a side note, while driving through the thick of inner SE Portland, I noticed a total of 2 bicycle commuters this morning. Must be mostly a fairweather thing...

well- take a look at this. Is this for real?
