Why I love animals

They have great instincts.

Goat spears Weiner

classic.

Good goat.

$1M? Big deal.

Ahhh, but the famous words of Everett McKinley Dirksen, even with inflation thrown, are still a basic fiscal and political truth.

Dirksen in the 60s - 70s said something to the effde ct "A billion here, a billion there and a billion over there and soon you are talking about real money">

Now of course its a trillion here and a trillion there and the Obama Treasury, no different from the Shrub Treasury, keeps bailing out AIG and the banks and the car companies, but the principle is both important and correct.

You watch the pennies, nickles and dinmes and the dollars start to take care of themselves.

Yeah, I know, I'm an idealistic dreamer.

Political grandstanding. If they really wanted to get at the root of farm subsidies, look no further than the soy and corn industries and their respective billion dollar agri-businesses behind them.

Except goats don't have many lobbyists and it looks cooler and silly to the public that a hairy animal would get a whopping million dollars.

I don't disagree with them, but they're not getting at the crux of the issue.

Grandstanding sure, but, OTOH, if you can't knock off the tiniest, least justified subsidies, how do you go after the big boys?

Maybe they were offended by the sheepskin microphone.
