The last thing that's needed
I can't remember Portland's public schools ever being in this much disarray. It's mid-June, and hundreds of high school students don't know where they'll be going to school in September.
What a time to suggest that the mayor inject his unique brand of leadership into the decision-making process. He's so good with the teenagers.

This says it all:
Adams did not return calls for comment. In past months, according to his staff, the mayor has worked behind the scenes, talking with Superintendent Carole Smith and parent groups. Just this past week, he has spoken with individual board members directly.
He's mentorly ill. Chronic.
