It seems like years since it's been clear

Having experienced a rare dry day yesterday, Portlanders are confronted this morning with crystal blue skies and bright sun. Will they remember what to do under these strange conditions?

RUN! Flee the yellow hurty thing in the sky! It BURNS!

Seriously, if you guys want to send some of that weather down this way, I'd be very grateful. Ever see the 1987 horror film Near Dark? Remember that little bit with Bill Paxton taking a peek through blinds in that bungalow, and coming back with half of his face burned off? That's how I've felt every evening for the past month.

Perhaps you should break out a special edition Sun Center 9000.

This is Portland. We have to go outside and water the plants, for fear the arid conditions will dry them out and they will die.

On a more serious note about objects in the sky, did anyone see that smoking object slowly falling in the Eastern sky a bit ago. Saw it driving East on B-H Hwy.

Weather Underground reported yesterday that as of Jun 3, we have already received our quota of rainfall for June.

At least this may help to stave off forest and grass fires this year.

And it's a parade day, too. That's some sort of minor miracle.

Between the 3rd, when wunderground announced the rainfall for June had already matched the quota for the month, I went out and noted, then dumped the rain gauge (1.5") This morning, I looked again and it showed another inch.

Total since the last dry spell about what? a month ago, I logged 6.5" give or take 1/2" including today's measurement.

I have to laugh at the changes the rain put me through lately. Maybe it was getting caught up on Tabor a few times, especially in late May when I got hit with a serious downpour while going up the muddy side of a hill. I had no choice but to stand really close to a big tree and wait it out.

Back then I could still get into the mystical beauty of it all. By this past Wednesday, I was watching the weather guy on Channel 8 and thinking, "Is there any way we can have this man arrested?"

So today I didn't immediately go crazy that it was sunny. Frankly, I was a little resentful having to jump through the good weather hoop every couple of months.

But that's the thing about a beautiful day in Oregon - you can't stay mad at it for long.

By this afternoon, I caved and headed up Tabor digging the positive energy and all the people out on parole.

That's okay folks - enjoy the rain up there. Here in Reno it was 80 degrees and sunny on saturday. And today it will be 85+ with sunny days scheduled all week long!

Dave, what's the A. for? ;-) After your snark, I thought a bit back was in order. It's freaking pouring here again today.
