It's National Census Day
Have you filled out your census form yet? We haven't messed with it yet. But we're reliably informed that it calls for household information as of April 1 -- and if that's the case, then as of today, we're still not late.

"I put American in the Box For Are You a Mexican...."
Wow, that certainly will show those census guys a thing or two!

I totally agree. The census asked for all the people that lived with you on April 1. How could it be due before you had the answer.
Just another way the government shows it can't do anything right.

SESmith, "the government" is just trying for a BLUE (best linear unbiased estimate), which is what most of us do most of the time. Do the best you can.
Meanwhile, become exercised over other matters, such as whether J. Mary Walrath in the DE bankruptcy proceedings following the 25Sept2008 theft of WaMu by bankster Jamie Dimon, in collusion with the FDIC's Sheila Bair, will strike a blow next Tuesday against "too big to fail" and the illegal activities that attend that designation. A lot has been revealed during the past 18 months; the past month has been particularly intriguing, although the O and other deadtree outlets have left their readers
uniformed.

Although still a subscriber, I will not wear a uniform on behalf of the O.

We have been out of town...back next week...
Do we still count?
Just kidding, but I wonder if a real person will show up at my door 'cause we will be late sending in our form?

Fifteen years ago we bought a house for our business that was previously owned by a dentist. The dentist had a studio apartment that he rented out in the back of the house. We converted that to office space. When the census people showed up we had a helluva time convincing them that nobody lived in the place. Had to bring them in and walk them around.

I made some bold predictions.

Census Bureau website says if you don't get the forms by 12 April, call the office. No need to panic yet.
I understand that if you have a PO Box you'll have to get your own forms.

Jack--
Deadline is April 10.
At stake is our fair share of 400b of federal$
We estimate that the county loses $1200 a year for everyone who isn't counted.

Nice that Nick Fish can be so concerned about the census, but so cavalier about the City's impending bankruptcy.

We only answered how many lived at our address and hand-wrote "human" for the race questions. Left the rest of it blank.

we answered all questions except for income....wish we'd thought of the American human answer....damn

We had a middle-schooler fill ours out. But he lives here, so it's okay.

Nick--if dollars are allocated based on census results, then are more dollars given to communities with higher percentages of certain ethnicities and fewer dollars to communities with smaller percentages of certain ethnicities? If so, then that sounds like racism --some people are more valuable than others.
