Jet engines burn a high grade of kerosene, somewhere on the refining table between gasoline and diesel fuel. Modern engines could burn bio-fuel, but with much higher maintenance costs and crappy fuel efficiency, like we are forced to endure in our cars here in Oregon with the mandated fuel standard. It does not make economic or strategic sense to use these products, except as a dog and pony show.

In his failed attempt:
1. to curry favor from eastern Oregon farmers, 2. to start his premature Governor campaign, 3. using PWB 'in kind' money to promote the biodiesel and a failed Madison Farms pilot program,4. give a break to PWB ratepayer at PWB cost $7-$8 / gallon for biodiesel ....we have a winner.
Uh, no, thats right we don't. In Portland you all pay more for biodiesel because Commodore Randy says you have to. At the pump and in your water bills.

Nothing screams "green" like a "bio-fuel" powered fighter jet. Save the planet and the homeland with one shot.
BTW - the NY Times piece you linked to a few weeks ago had a nice photo of Obama standing in front of a "Green Hornet" FA-18 while announcing his plan to open more areas to offshore drilling.

Since agrofuels cause 4x the carbon emissions of fossil fuels, they're perfect for the faux-greens who dominate Democratic politics.
