Memories of U

As a guy who grew up rooting for the New York Football Giants of Sam Huff, Andy Robustelli, Jim Katcavage, Alex Webster, and so many more, I find that there's something in the sight of a smart, durable, experienced quarterback in a Colts uniform that makes me need to root for the other side. Just as we respected Unitas but cheered our lungs out for Tittle, I'm respecting Peyton but pulling for Brees. Go Saints!

Tittle?

My God, Jack you are young.

Now Charley Connerley, there was a Giants quarterback.

70-2

As a Purdue alumnus who followed Brees to the Rose Bowl where the rest of team imploded against Washington, I am quite pleased with this victory. Oh yeah, Peyton and crew beating the Bears a few years ago in SB XLI may have something to do with it.

It's always nice to see the Emperor Peyton's Death Star reduced to rubble.

The first NFL game I ever saw on TV was the so-called "Greatest Game Ever Played." Yes, the 1958 Colts vs. Giants NFL Championship game in which Alan "The Horse' Ameche won it on a 1 yard run in overtime. I was 9 years old and loved those horseshoes on the helmets. That game made Lenny Moore and Raymnond Berry my first sports heroes and I cheered for the Colts until they moved out of Baltimore. I don't cheer for teams that leave their cities, so like, what, 83% of the country was for the Saints. Oh, another thing about that first game. Having discovered that, hey, there are football games on TV at Noon on Sunday, that was the end of my church-going days.
