Two things, Professor B: Seems to me that the separation of church and state would be enhanced--and profitable--if the government taxed all church organizations as it does other property-owning entities.
And, not completely unrelated, why don't the Oregon constitution's "uniform rules of assessment and taxation" apply to the effort to tax income classes differently--as in approval of Measure 66? Or do I just not understand uniform rules?

State auditors told Millwood Community Presbyterian Church last summer to close its farmers’ market on the church parking lot or the lot could no longer be claimed as tax-exempt.
Interesting, I wonder how that works with the Beaverton farmers market being in the Beaverton Library parking lot?
