Updated forecast calls for more weather
Caught by surprise by today's snowstorm (as usual), Portland's TV meteorologists now have a better handle on the area's weather conditions and have issued a revised forecast for tonight. Computer models now clearly show that the snow will turn to rain in a few hours, unless it keeps snowing, in which case the precipitation will remain frozen. Eventually, it will melt, but until then, be alert for snowy conditions.
Do not go outdoors. Boil your water. And stay tuned to bojack.org Storm Center 9000.2 for all the latest updates.

What we have here is a failure to prognosticate.

Don't forget to rush to the grocery store to stock up on a week's worth of supplies! Right now! Quick! Before it stops snowing!

There's one great and wonderful coincidence when it comes to the timing of this snow storm. Since we're headed toward a full moon, the neighborhood is lit up like daylight right about now (almost 6 p.m.), and families are streaming down the sidewalk on foot with their sleds to go sledding in the park around the corner.

Have you read peoples updates on Facebook. Good god, I weep for the future. You'd think people were trapped in massive snow drifts out there. Comments like "don't worry Becky he'll make it home!". or. "It's official my child is the last one at daycare I'm the worst mother in the world." What? Because it's taking you a little longer to pick up your brat from daycare? Holy crap we've become pathetically weak. I'd hate to see what happens to us if a real disaster ever struck.

My normal 20 minute bus ride took over an hour and that was after hiking to 10th Ave just to get on a bus that still had room. Got a ride as far as 39th and had to hike the rest of the way because the bus had to swap to a snow route. Warm by the fire now though. Had one good laugh though saw a bicyclist end up on his arse.

If only people would be a little more prepared for these events, maybe have decent tires and a set of chains for the winter? It took a family member 3 hrs 45 mins to get from Tigard to the Salem area (normally 35-40 mins), and another from outer SE to the St. Vincents area in Beaverton 4 hrs. People are so flippin dumb! If you leave your car in the middle of the road you should lose it forever.

I stayed at the office until 9pm to avoid the traffic. Even at tht time, it took me nearly two hours to get from downtown to our house which is just 4 miles away from my office. It was crazy.
