Hot 'dogs for a cold day

Here is the rundown for this weekend's pro football underdog pool. Which of these underdog teams (in caps) will win its game outright?

13.5 CAROLINA at New England
13 ST. LOUIS at Tennessee
13 DETROIT at Baltimore
10.5 ATLANTA vs. New Orleans
10 CLEVELAND vs. Pittsburgh (Thursday, 5:20 PM PST)
7 DENVER at Indianapolis
6.5 SEATTLE at Houston
6.5 CINCINNATI at Minnesota
4.5 TAMPA BAY vs. NY Jets
3.5 SAN FRANCISCO vs. Arizona
3 CHICAGO vs. Green Bay
3 MIAMI at Jacksonville
3 SAN DIEGO at Dallas
1 OAKLAND vs. Washington
1 PHILADELPHIA at NY Giants

As you can see, the enigmatic Cleveland Browns are the Thursday pick -- players have until game time tomorrow afternoon at 5:20 to let me know if they wish to select them as this week's pick. Buffalo at Kansas City is off the board since they're a "pick 'em." (Pick 'em? You can have 'em!)

Choose a winner, and a player receives the points indicated in our season-long forecasting competition. Current standings are here. Nobody picked up any points this past weekend. We cannot let that happen again!

As the weeks in the regular season dwindle down, more of the games have serious playoff implications, which no doubt will affect their outcomes. Players and kibitzers, what do you think this time around?

Denver over Indy is my pick.

Are there some horrid teams in the NFL this year or what? Blegh.

Tempted to take Atlanta. But I'll be gutless and take the Niners.

And if you'll indulge a little pimping —in this charity-minded pool— for holiday donations to some great nonprofits, please check out our Give!Guide at http://giveguide.oaktree.com/Welcome.aspx.

Whoops. Make that http://www.wweek.com/

Hank read my mind -- I'll have Atlanta. If Washington can almost beat NO, a division rival might be able to pull it off. It's really hard to go undefeated through such a long season.

I will take ATLANTA, so be forewarned everyone. If you also take Atlanta you can put down zero points for the weekend. (Again!!)

Crashed & burned with last week's touts, sorry....so, going with Cinci this time around (Cleve over Pgh is tempting, esp. with ongoing catfight btwn Ward & Big Ben on a short week for them, and with their defense turning into 45-minute men this year).

Maybe I shouldn't say this because you can still change your pick, but ATL is all but guaranteed to lose, and I think the points should be closer to 65. NO won't be playing in the cold - like they did against Washington. ATL's offense is decimated by injuries.

Ward & Big Ben are past their problems. Especially with Ward being questionable due to a hamstring injury.

Cincinnati is without Domato Peko, a huge part of their D-line, and I think that the Vikings and A.P. - the purple jesus - are aware of that. It will take the pressure off of Favre, who looks like he may be getting ready to have an end of the season collapse.

Denver seems like a solid pick. I'm sticking with picking 6.5 point underdogs because it's worked this far.

Like I said before: this is easy. Of course, I didn't pick well last week, but whatever.

I'd like Denver please.

genop's mom thinks the Browns are top dog tonight.

I'll take the ATL.

I'll go with Cincy over Minnesota.

In this contest it's anyone's gas, but I'll let one go on the Farty Niners to beat Arizona in a real rip-snortin' game. (I don't even think they will win...I just like making fart jokes.)
