Daze of our lives
Here's where we are, Portland. As the local economy crashes irretrievably, downtown drifts dangerously toward failure, and local government debt continues to pile up, this is what we're all about these days:
If it really is this shallow, then we are in worse trouble than I thought.

Most of Vanderbilt's book is about changing driving habits. Like ... put down your beer and zip up your pants.

I swear, I've seen better interviews on the Sy Fy Channel. And who does Adams's animatronics: Tom Savini?

Only made it 1:58, can't blow five minutes of my lunch hour on a guy who can't string 5-10 words coherently.
I'm more afraid of this than zombies. . . .maybe it's the same thing.

Ms. Contrarian: yeah, Sam can't quite jump over the Uncanny Valley, can he?

"Multi-Modal Mecca"..."Shining City on the Hill"??
Wow...I half expected the scene to change where Sam was coming down a hill like Moses...under a beam of light with a Trimet bus in one hand, and a bike in the other. Holy cow...

"Built environment," "organic," "design, design, design," "multimodal mecca," "shining city on the hill," "complete neighborhood." PUKE.

Smart. Smart people working towards a smart future. I'm glad my future as a Portlander is in the hands and minds of these smart people.

Sammy certainly haas an eloquent way of describing how he "carpools"....as in, a paid city employee grabs a "car" from the city motor "pool" to shuttle him around at taxpayer expense. Now that's Multi-Modal Mecca.

Great - Two guys telling each other how smart they are. If I wanted this, I'd watch C-SPAN all day long.

I'm sure that "Janet," the transportation commissioner of New York City, is thrilled to have Sam the Tram say what a good job she's doing. She's been waiting all her life for this kind of validation.

Our forefathers were brilliant educated people that had no interest in politics but had a passion for freedom . Why do we keep electing these carere politicians with no life experience. I wouldn't trust these guys to water my cows.

Having spoken and written to Adams about transit problems and the poor in the past it is my opinion that he doesn't give a damn. This is just a tool to make him look good.

That look on Sam's face says it all: "Me think very deeply about deep issue"

Mr. Wilson allow me to paraphrase... Sam is a tool who wants to look good.

Sam trades his unzip car for a zip car.
