Will the Tennessee Titans beat the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight? I tend to think not, but if I'm going to be persuaded otherwise, I have just a few hours to change my mind.

Week 16 last year....Tenn 31 Pitt 14
Don't see much difference in their teams this year.

Week 16 last year was a game with no meaning. P'burg has already clinched division title and home field advantage throughout playoffs. P'burg played few starters.
Tonight's game is different.

You're being silly, Jack. Why even consider picking against the Super Bowl champs in Week 1?

What about their Super Bowl opponent?

Superbowl champs losing their home opener in week 1?!? No way! And the Titans are without Albert Hainesworth. Steelers roll!
Arizona will slip this year, but it's too early in the season to bet against them. Wait for Kurt Warner to get hurt and then the doldrums will hit.

Mouse needs to eat more cheese. Pit played all their starters the entire game and they got their arses kicked.

The Titans should cover the spread.

Lay off this game, Jack. Too much risk of getting skunked, even-up on the u-dog pernts in this game. There are better bets on the board, like the Jets or Carolina. You know from experience, it's a long-haul season. It's not how you start, but how you finish that matters. If you're feelin' frisky, consider St.L. over Seattle.
P.S.: Don't let past heads-up match record of Titans (not Oilers) v. Steelers trick you -- Bill Cowher regularly got out-coached by Jeff Fisher. It's a whole new scene now. Steelers will not only win, but cover.
Bon chance!

Outright wins in order:
6.5 WASHINGTON at NY Giants
4 DENVER at Cincinnati
9.5 OAKLAND vs. San Diego

Jack, I'm inclined to go Washington this week.
If you go back to the second half of last year, Big Baby She-lie Manning was horrible without Plax to throw to. In the last 6 games without him (including the playoffs) he averaged 180 yds passing and they went 2-4 in that span.
As it turns out, 1 of the 2 wins they DID have was against Washington....
But in any case, none of the new young receivers established themselves in the preseason. They'd have a good game and then disappear again.
So, I look for 2 things this game - Kevin Boss to have a big game, and Redskins to keep it close enough to perhaps squeek out a win.

Who did you end up picking for the week?

A blocked FG away from being a genius....

A blocked field goal and some form of scoring points before Pittsburgh did ...

Sorry, MP, but every NFL game that ends with less of a 7 pt. margin of victory is a "would'a could'a should'a" deal... :-)

Haven't picked yet. Not due until tomorrow night (unless you wanted Tennessee, that is).
