Another wasteful congressional junket
Brian Baird's back from the South Pole, but now Greg Walden and his wife are off on important official business in farookin' Mongolia. Maybe we'd be better off if they stayed there.

The folks at Dorchester this year were talking up Walden as a possible future Speaker of the House. Flying around the world with Boehner when he could/should be staying a little closer to "home" sort of lends credence to the opinion he's staying out of the 2010 governor's race. IMHO he's the one Republican who could have won. Now the gig Kitzhaber's to decline.

Let's not forget Congressman Blumenauer's 7-day trip to China with Speaker Pelosi in June.
With a stop to visit the glaciers in Alaska, it must have been a fact finding trip of immense magnitude to discover the glaciers are actually melting. Hmmm. Wouldn't it have been cheaper to visit Mt. Hood?

"Official business" explained Walden:

The rest of us will have to be content with "The Story of the Weeping Camel" (Mongolia) and "Tulpan" (Kazakhstan).
Wonder if these reps ever show home movies from their junkets?
