No kidding. I played the clarinet and alto saxophone in high school, but I gave it up because I had no idea it could sound like that.

That's remarkable--though since he was a New Yorker, not that remarkable. I'm convinced that New York City is the healthiest place to live in the country, at least if you are in the arts.
With a little effort, which I'm not going to expend, I could dig up dozens of octegenarian New Yorkers still working at the top of their crafts.
