Memorial Day weekend 2009, cont'd
Staying close to home on a holiday weekend is always appealing to us. But our friend got as far as Dog Mountain yesterday, and he says the view was fine:

I heard from a friend that Dog Mountain is a real ass-kicker if you go the whole way, but the views are amazing. I hope to be in shape enough to do the hike by the end of the summer.
