Somebody else's problem

Two of the three clowns who refereed the Blazers-Rockets game on Saturday night are in San Antonio tonight for Spurs-Mavericks. You can boo them on TNT.

And sure enough -- a terrible call to end the first half. Where do they find these guys? And how much do they have bet on the over-under?

Oh Jack, not you too. Why can't Blazer fans take their loses and move on? The Refs . . . the MLS deal . . . where to put Chavez Ave . . . the price of popcorn at the Rose Garden. It's always something. May your agony end soon.

The NBA probably makes more money by fixing the games. Tax-free too.

Meanwhile, in Boston this night an exciting contest concluded favorably for the home team, but can the Cs do it thrice more without KG? The Cavs eventually, of course.

For those who find the local team's trials unnerving, try the Eastern Conference.

The Blazers' season is just about over. They stunk on Saturday. The refs did too.

if you think refereeing has no serious impact on NBA games, you haven't been paying attention. even David Stern has said as much. Saturday, Clyde Drexler said "Houston is definitely getting some very friendly calls".

Mark Cuban collected extensive data on it a few years ago. it was so incendiary that he was heavily fined and threatened eighteen different ways if he pursued it his assertion. a referee last year admitted that something hinky was going on at a Sacramento playoff series. that's just the iceberg tip.

I'm still amazed by the so-called "rules" of pro basketball. they've never resembled anything close to fair or consistent.

Nate mentioned playing both Priz and Oden on the same unit tonight? Regardless I think we will see lots of substitutions. It's do or die from here on in.

There may have been some sketchy calls in Game 1 with the Blazers and the Rockets, but we still got blown out, plain and simple.

Regardless, there's nothing you can do - we're down 1-0, but we'd still be there if we'd lost a well-officiated nailbiter 103-102.

Gotta think positive - tonight we start to climb out of the (huge) hole we dug for ourselves. Go Blazers!
