Both sides played well.

Actually, Rasheed said "Good game, both teams played hard." And it was his response to every question asked him at that press conference.

Few that can be quoted in a family newspaper.
But his better quote is:
"Ball don't lie."

"So, uh, should they be getting trainee wages ?"
Players are paid the entire amount of their contract for the season whether they appear in playoff games or not. Playoff games are, in a sense, unpaid work (notwithstanding the unequaled opportunity for a player to enhance his reputation and with it his next contract).
There is a pool of money awarded to teams based on their finish within their conference and how far they advance in the playoffs, but the entire amount for this season is $11 million. Distributed among 16 teams and as many as 15 players per team, that's not a whole lot of money relative to NBA salaries.
