Flagrant foul
Before the Blazers sent out their bonehead e-mail threatening to sue any team who might hire and play Darius Miles, they reportedly tried to claim him themselves and stash him on the sidelines, where he couldn't play and hurt their "luxury tax" situation. It appears that the league office wisely told Paul Allen where he could put that bright business idea.

You've got to give the Blazers some credit. Your phrase "stash him on the sidelines" is the first time in a while that a Blazer story has included the word "stash."

With all the current and looming business bankruptcies you have to wonder if the NBA is in danger. The NBA's collective bargaining agreement has become ridiculous with guaranteed contracts protecting eight-figure yearly salaries for players who no longer have any incentive to earn it (e.g., Miles, Marbury, Kemp).
I've been to a dozen Blazer games in the last three years and I love the enthusiasm and direction of the team, however, when I look at the state of the league and the price of a decent ticket their is a giant disconnect.
I think the only professional sports league that is engineered to make it through the coming recession/depression is the NFL.

Where is the Bowie picture re: Oden after last night's performance? Where are the digs at Outlaw?
"Outlaw delivered in a big way, scoring a season-high 33 points, and Greg Oden added 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 109-95 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night."
Play fair, you know you want to be able to love them both.

I love this team. I can see the executives wanting cap room to bring in another star vet, but why risk it? Just develop the talent we have here and we should be fine. You want Chris Paul? Just develop Bayless.
The announcers last night were great - funny and informative - and they let the game come to them. They also pointed out that we have the best record against the Eastern Conference of any team in the NBA.
I love watching this team go into a place like Chicago and outmatch the home squad. Go Blazers.

Right on, Bill. The Blazers are fun to watch and Barrett and Rice are a pleasure.
But enough with the TV replays during real, live action on the court! And that awful behind-the-basket camera shot that minimizes the view of the court should be deemed illegal or at least worth a nasty email to the GM's.

The Blazers are certainly fun to watch again, I find myself looking forward to the games instead of ignoring them.
Back to the topic. The Blazer management pulled a bonehead move by sending out that threatening email. If I was an owner I would sign him up and play him at least 3 games just to prove a point to the Blazers.
