New look

I see they have come up with a unique license plate design in Illinois.

It looks like change is coming to Illinois, too. Lt. Governor Pat Quinn, who will succeed Governor Blagojevich after he resigns or more likely is impeached, is described as a maverick and a reformer. He appears to be cut from the same cloth as US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

a maverick and a reformer

After this past November, these terms have a greatly diminished meaning.

Yes. It's easy to claim to be a maverick and a reformer. And the terms have popular appeal (Blagojevich ran for governor as a "reformer" and won). But in this case the description of Quinn comes from a government watchdog. Also, the fact that Quinn and Blagojevich haven't spoken since August 2007 suggests Quinn is squeaky clean. And he actually has a long track record of advocating for the public interest in addition to his public service.

Obviously, Audaciously Hopeful is not very familiar with Illinois politics, says this ex-Chicago resident.
