Lucky 'dog wanted
They're a little later than usual, but the pro football underdogs are here for this week's perusal. Last week, we went with Baltimore, which was the logical selection along with New England. Logic prevailed in neither case, however, and to win big points, one needed to suspend rationality and go with Saint Louis!
Anyway, help us out in this week's pool by suggesting an underdog or two (in caps) that can win this week's game outright. The number of points is relevant only in determining what I get if I'm right:
11 SAN FRANCISCO at NY Giants
10.5 SEATTLE at Tampa Bay
9.5 CINCINNATI vs. Pittsburgh
9 DETROIT at Houston
8.5 KANSAS CITY vs. Tennessee
7.5 CLEVELAND at Washington
6.5 ST. LOUIS vs. Dallas
3.5 MINNESOTA at Chicago
3.5 DENVER at New England
3 NEW ORLEANS at Carolina
3 BALTIMORE at Miami
3 OAKLAND vs. NY Jets
1.5 GREEN BAY vs. Indianapolis
I've fallen to fifth in the league standings and can't afford to lose more ground. I need the highest winning underdog on the list. Help -- not just anybody!

I see a little group of 4 potential underdog winners bunched together: Minnesota, Denver, New Orleans, Baltimore.
Minnesota because of AP,
Denver because of the Vanderbilt QB,
New Orleans because of DB,
and Baltimore because of D.

Should have gone with the math and no guts no glory :)
As usual, the bottom five aren't worth it. Gotta go big or go home.
Without looking at the numbers, I like San Fran or KC.

Top two: 49ERS are due to steal another like they did in Seattle and the Giants look a little vulnerable. PS. None of the 49er losses were blowouts. CLEVELAND, Derek Anderson may be coming of age. BTW, picking stock market winners these days is easier than this, Jack.

Seattle's back is to the wall already. It's do or die. Now or never.

SF's defense gives them upset potential, but I'm not sure I'd bet against the Giants at home.
The Cowboys are in disarray right now (Romo out, PacMan suspended, T.O. simmering about Roy Williams acquisition).
They are playing on the road after three straight poor outings and they are playing with everything to lose (they should have been a shoe-in to make the playoffs and now may struggle to make a wildcard). If they lose to the Rams, the wheels will come off completely.
The Rams have nothing to lose. No one expects them to go .500, they are just trying to rally around a new coach and win a couple games.
Psychologically, the Rams locker room has got to be in a better place right now.

I don't know why I bother, but here goes...
CLEVELAND....Washington is playing above their talent level. Their QB is due for a major blowup and Cleveland looks like they turned it around with NYG.

Fast Willie Parker out for the week, so I'm hopping on the Bengals pick as well

Go with Seattle, this is a must win game and i expect them to shake the funk they are in and play well. I have a hunch that Seneca Wallace will have a great game at QB for the Hawks, he's quick, he's athletic, and his injury is not a problem anymore.

Big risk = big reward, right?
Detroit - sounds silly but if the Lions shut down the Schaub-Johnson connection, they're in the game. Regardless of who's playing QB for them.
