Change on paper
While the Treasury works on trying to get people to use its new dollar coin, it is also testing out a new dollar bill design in selected markets.

I dont understand why they are so worried about whether or not we will use it. I dont care either way. And if its cheaper to make, then thats what they do. Just stop making the paper ones. Seems to be a no-brainer.

They ought to come up with a two-dollar coin as well. Canada did a great job with this. The U.S. Treasury is doing about as well with it as it has done with the financial markets.

Yeah, twaddle around with new designs for money as it becomes worth less and less rather than dealing with the problems behind our economic problems.

As far as I'm concerned, the Treasury ought to develop and circulate a dollar bill that is 40% smaller than the current one. That would accurately reflect what has happened to its value since President Bush took over.

Dollar coins make sense. I would like to see more Jefferson two-dollar bills replace the current $1 bill. This avoids both the "too much change" for small purchases $3-4, and fits with the current register setup.
More humorously, I fear Portland's famous ... eh ... "adult entertainers" will now have to carry those little change purses.

Dont laugh too much, I think the adult entertainment lobby has more clout in DC than most would like to believe.
