Did I miss the annual “good cop” column from Maxine.

Yes, another example of how things can go terribly bad when tasers are used inappropriately. Too bad there are not more stories about the hundreds of times they are used as intended so that deadly force was not needed. Lives have clearly been saved thanks to the proper use of this device. This is also another real example of the remorse that likely follows when a police officer makes the wrong decision in critical situations. I am glad I do not have to do their job, and my heart goes out to the families of Mr. Morales and Officer Pigott.

Before anyone criticizes police officers in the future, as everyone seems so willing to do these days, I ask you: would you do their job?

Good point, mp97303. I would not swear to enforce America's drug laws. But, I do respect those who try to enforce our traditional laws. And I don't begrudge them both lethal and "non-lethal" tools.
Cops are human and they make mistakes that cost lives, just like doctors do.
Furthermore, the Stanford experiment showed that some professions that use a badge are inherently ripe for abuse of power.
In this case, however, both deaths are a tragedy. My condolences to both families.
